Our Story

Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate has been working with buyers and sellers of Vermont real estate in the tri-mountain area between Okemo and Stratton for more than 30 years. We are a full-service real estate brokerage firm specializing in the sale of fine homes and properties in Weston, Londonderry, Peru, Landgrove, Andover, Ludlow, Mount Holly, Ludlow, Winhall and Windham.

Originally located in northern Vermont, Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate moved to its current home in Weston when the eponymous owner joined forces with her daughter Hilary Miller Chalmers in 1973. Hilary Chalmers took over the business in 1988 - moving it to its current location in the old Hannum's Store on Main Street in Weston. Built in the 1850's, the building has served as a general store, antiques shop, tea room, photographic gallery and post office.

After working for several years alongside Hilary, Claudia Harris purchased the business in 2005. Claudia grew up in the area, attended local schools and the University of Vermont. After graduating with a degree in Political Science and spending two years working for then-Congressman and now Senator James M. Jeffords, Claudia left Vermont to work in the public policy arena in Washington, D.C. for the next ten years. She returned home to Vermont in 1998 to live and work in the community she knows and loves.

"I had the great pleasure of learning this fascinating and complex business from Hilary Chalmers -one of the area's wisest and most respected real estate brokers. My parents moved to Vermont in the early 1960s in part because of the Miller and Chalmers families. My father opened a dental practice in Springfield,my mother obtained her real estate license and our family became ensconced in the area. I count myself among the lucky to have known and worked with Hilary and to have benefited from her experience and her passion for real estate.

Hilary, her family and this business have always been a part of my life and it was with tremendous pride that I found myself following in Hilary's footsteps. Although my purchase of the business had been many years in planning, I've been left with big shoes to fill and I'm going to try my hardest to do just that."

When we can drag him away from his sheep and chickens, Alan Chalmers works as an associate with Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate. Alan specializes in land sales and is well qualified to serve as our Local Land Expert. Whether it's siting your property for a proposed subdivision or walking land with an eye to buying, Alan is happy to assist.

We are excited to announce that Tom Harris joined Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate in September 2006. In addition to being Claudia's brother, Tom is a native Vermonter and an avid outdoorsman. He attended local schools, including the University of Vermont, was a competitive ski racer and has spent the last several years working in Boston for a leader in international finance. Tom brings his professional skills, his love of Vermont and his great enthusiasm to our business and we are thrilled to have him join Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate.
